✨ Here are 3 #ProTips to become #BFF with Transferrable Skills ✨
1. EMPOWER your #CareerDevelopment Mindset! 🌱
~ did you know?? The best performers often have the most imposter syndrome?? ~
It’s true!! Imposter syndrome is a sign you’re highly capable because it means you genuinely care about people and results, and continually seek to improve
Talk back to imposter syndrome. Remind yourself: feeling imposter syndrome is a sign I’m highly capable because it means I highly care and continually seek to improve
2. Give #TransferrableSkills a TRY! ✨
~ what’s the harm in trying something on for size?? ~
Ease-in: Look at your current resume and then a job description of interest. Where can you simply exchange terms? I call this “retrofitting,” and you may know it as finding “synonyms”. Use the language of the job description as much as possible
Look at your resume and then the job description. Where can you interchange terms? I used to be a teacher and instead of saying “differentiation” I now use “customization.” I had to speak the language of my new employers, or they would assume I’d go back to the classroom, come September.
3. YES! Your Micro-#Wins Count the Most 💗
~ great news: every single task you successfully complete is an accomplishment ~
Highlight the key words and phrases in your desired role. Brainstorm where you’ve accomplished these key tasks. BElieve the tiniest things you do—even on autopilot—matter the most. If you genuinely don’t meet required qualifications, #network in order to find out how you can or if your unique skillsets qualify you. (Pssst: we call your unique skills“differentiators” or “superpowers,” … and people who career pivot have the most interesting ones!)
So long as it relates to the job description! You do coordinate, collaborate, communicate, problem solve, streamline, and so much more. Employers often want to train you on their processes … so market how you achieve results
✨ Throughout my career, I’ve successfully navigated 5 #careerpivots — even landing in HR without an HR degree—increasing my salary by almost 100% over the past 12 years!!! I’ve effectively coached 100’s of #jobsekeers in making the same empowering moves. Now … it’s your turn ✨
